After a certain age, both men and women develop sexual desires, which is also considered a natural need of the body because the whole process benefits a person both physically as well as mentally. However, it is not the same in every case. Some people also face a lack of enthusiasm and unwillingness to form sexual relationships. There can be various reasons associated with such a situation, therefore, today ETV Bharat Sukhibhava is sharing with you some of the factors affecting sexual desires and other interesting things related to sexual life.
Why Is Sexual Intercourse Enjoyable?
The stimulation during sexual intercourse and the hormones produced during this process, makes both mind and body feel happy, pleasured, and content. Looking at it from a scientific point of view, during a physical relationship, our body reacts in different ways, and these reactions can be categorized as physical, emotional, and mental. In the 1960s, in a research on sexual relationships, researchers William Masters and Virginia Johnson mentioned four types of sexual arousal, which are:
- Excitement: Excitement or stimulation plays a very important role during sexual intercourse. During this phase, both male and female genitals and sufficient blood are present in their muscle fibers, and in such a situation, the sensitivity of the veins in these parts also increases. This produces a translucent fluid in women, which lubricates the vagina.
- Plateau: It is a phase in the process where the intensity of stimulation remains in the person and the vagina, penis, and clitoris become very sensitive. During this time, the sensations keep changing. The excitement either increases or begins to decrease.
- Orgasm:Usually, men and women experience orgasms during sex due to the contraction of the muscles, but it is different for both. As observed in most women, they may achieve orgasm due to stimulation in the clitoris, and many times, it may even be relatively quicker. While on the other hand, men usually experience orgasm due to stimulation in the upper end of their penis. Although most men ejaculate as a result of orgasm, an orgasm without ejaculation is also possible. In men, where there is a contraction in the penis, rectum, and pelvis, in women, it is felt in the vagina, uterus, and rectum.
- Resolution:According to research, the resolution is also responsible for sexual arousal. Here resolution is not associated with striving for good sex, but with the process, reaction, and state, before and after orgasm. The state can vary between the male and female counterparts. For example, men have orgasms after ejaculation, but it is not necessarily the same with women.
According to the research, as a result of these 4 stages, men and women also experience pleasure and feel content through masturbation.
Effects Of Sexual Intercourse Of Brain
During the process of sexual intercourse, the nerves in our genitals send signals to our brain. The neurotransmitter, considered as the chemical messenger of the brain, helps in awakening the sensation associated with sex in other parts of the body. It also produces various hormones and helps them flow. The hormones produced in the body and their functions are as follows:
- Dopamine
Dopamine hormone increases during peak stimulation
- Oxytocin
It is believed that the release of oxytocin hormone increases love between the couple. This hormone is released in our body after orgasm.
- Non-epinephrine
This hormone is produced in the body during sexual stimulation. It thins and contracts the blood vessels, making the genitals more sensitive.
- Serotonin
