Winter season is around the corner and so are the chances of catching seasonal cold and fever. Fever caused due to weather change comes along with fatigue and body pain. As soon as we witness its symptoms, we instantly consult a doctor and start the medication. But what we usually ignore is the fact that those chemically produced drugs can have side effects too. Therefore, the best medications with either minimal or zero side effects come from your kitchen. There are many spices and foods that will not only reduce cold and fever but will also increase your immunity. Here are some of them:
Ginger (Adrak)
Ginger has always been an important ingredient in the Indian kitchen, due to its antiviral and antibacterial properties. Ginger helps in increasing the immunity of the body and reducing various types of infections. Be it any vegetable or drink, ginger goes with almost every dish or beverage, especially tea. Grate ginger and boil it in water. Now add honey to the concoction and drink it. It provides relief in fever and cold. You can also add a little lemon juice to it, to make it even more effective.
Basil (Tulsi)
Due to its medicinal properties, Tulsi has been considered an important herb, not only in home remedies but also in Ayurveda. Basil leaves are even compared to antibiotics. For the relief of seasonal fever, boil a spoonful of ginger in a handful of basil leaves with water until the water is reduced to half. You can also add honey to the decoction if required, as per your taste. In the case of seasonal fever, drinking this decoction four to five times a day is very beneficial in fever.
