Getting used to a healthy routine does miracles to one’s body. Proper diet, basic exercise, calm state of mind are all interlinked and when one can stick to such basic routines, the overall body becomes healthy. Sexual health in women counts to overall health.

But the lockdown which should have been used productively was ignored by many of us, resulting in no benefit to the overall health. Lifestyle changes during the lockdown in women did more harm to the overall health than any good. Which intern affected women sexually.

Proper diet, sleep and minimum exercise are the major parts that women tend to ignore most. (Majority of Indian Women). Hence ETV Sukhibhava reached to Dr. Rahul Reddy, andrologist, Androcare and Andrology Institute, here in Hyderabad, to advise women on the aspects that are important and basic to them, but mostly ignored. Because these are the main parts that affect women’s sexual health and hence gained importance, while talking about overall health, in women.

A proper diet is the most ignored in Indian women. Leafy vegetables, fruits that are rich in a few vitamins and certain foods that increase the calcium and iron levels in women are compulsory if one wants to lead a happy sexual life.

Specific foods like methi help females to increase the female sex hormone estrogen. Calcium which is found in milk and eggs, iron-rich foods like red meat, legumes, nuts and fruits that increase the hemoglobin levels like pomegranate, apple should be included in every female’s diet. Food is the only direct intake that can do wonder to a female body.

Vitamin D and B12 are other important vitamins that women need to have a healthy body. Sunlight is one source that provides an ample amount of Vitamin D to the body. Dairy products and fish are an excellent source of B12 vitamin and deficiency of B12 can result in weakness and fatigue.

Exerciseis one ignored part apart from the proper diet in most Indian women. A minimum of 20 minutes of exercise is recommended to women as physical activity aids in overall health. Sitting for long hours can cause so much damage to one’s body and it’s equal to smoking a pack of cigarettes, Dr. Reddy says. This is why lifestyle changes can bring in a lot of change to a female body, be it positive or negative, which depends on what changes they are allowing the body to undergo. Physical activity does have an impact on sexual health too directly.

Other medical conditionslike PCOD, thyroid, over-weight, Vitamin D and Calcium deficiencies along with diabetes and hypertension are all the conditions that can affect women on the sexual health part. Though treatments are available to treat any medical condition, allowing women to lead a happy sexual life, lifestyle changes are the basic which a woman should take seriously in order to have a happy and healthier life overall.

When counting for overall health, sexual health is as important as any other health.
