Seasonal fruits are packed with nutrients to cope up with the season, let's see which fruits are best to combat winters in India and how does it contribute to the immunity-boosting.

COVID-19 pandemic has taught us the importance of a stronger immune system. Our immune system helps in fighting foreign bodies like viruses and bacterias, which are likely to enter our body and disrupt our body functions. Especially during winters, when our immune system is a little weak, there is an increased risk of contracting certain infectious diseases such as common cold, flu, viral fever, etc. In such a situation, the consumption of nutritious food and fruits works to increase our immunity. Therefore, here are some seasonal fruits, which, if regularly included in your diet, will not only boost your immunity but will also keep you healthy.

Orange (Santra)

This delicious winter fruit is rich in vitamins A, vitamin B, and vitamin C, calcium, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, choline, and other such nutrients. As delicious as it is, oranges are very good for health also. Along with reducing cholesterol, it helps in weight loss as well. Being a fruit of the citrus family, it is also very beneficial for our skin and hair. Apart from vitamin C, oranges are also rich in vitamin D which helps in building a stronger immune system and protects us from seasonal infections.

Kiwi

Although kiwi is an exotic fruit, however, due to globalization, it is now easily available in almost all parts of our country. It is a very healthy fruit because it contains many nutrients like potassium, vitamin C, vitamin E, and vitamin K. Its consumption is advised to improve eyesight. Kiwi is rich in fiber, antioxidants, potassium and also works as anti-inflammatory and anti-thrombotic, which controls blood pressure and prevents blood clotting. Along with boosting the immune system, it also keeps the digestive system healthy.

Pomegranate (Anar)

Everyone is aware of the benefits of pomegranate. It is that one fruit that is usually recommended by doctors whenever someone falls ill. Pomegranate contains nutrients like fiber, vitamin K, vitamin C, and vitamin B, iron, potassium, zinc, and omega-6 fatty acids. It is also rich in antioxidants. Due to its healing properties, it helps in keeping the body healthy in many diseases. Apart from increasing immunity in the body, it is very beneficial in preventing diseases like cancer and keeping hair and skin healthy. Regular intake of pomegranate leads to blood thinning, which is very helpful for blood pressure patients. Pomegranate also protects the body from free radicals and helps fight heart disease. It is also known to aid weight loss.

Sweet Lime (Mosambi)

Due to its medicinal properties, sweet limeis considered to be the best fruit for the patients. It is a storehouse of vitamin C and also contains other nutrients like vitamin A, vitamin B complex, flavonoid, amino acids, calcium, iodine, phosphorus, sodium, and manganese. It is very useful in all seasons due to its antioxidative properties and helps in strengthening the body’s immunity. Experts say that regular intake of sweet lime can keep us away from many diseases.

Apple

You all must be aware of the saying- “An apple a day, keeps the doctor away”. Polyphenols and flavonoids found in apples are very beneficial for heart health. In addition, it is an excellent source of minerals and potassium essential for your body. Consumption of apple juice helps in the smooth functioning of the heart and eating an apple eliminates weakness. Apple is full of fiber, vitamin B, vitamin C, vitamin K, and antioxidative properties, which not only improves skin and digestion but also provides a high degree of immunity to our body.

Guava (Amrood)

Guava is one of the best sources of fiber. It is considered excellent for the digestive system. Vitamin A and vitamin E found in guava nourish the eyes, hair, and skin. The phytonutrients present in guava, called lycopene, help protect the body from the risk of cancer and tumors. Guava contains beta carotene which protects the body from skin diseases. It is full of vitamin C and antioxidants which prevent our cells from being damaged by fighting the free radicals. Guava is also considered very good for our heart, as well as it helps in balancing the amount of blood sugar in our blood.
