Suvendu Adhikari vows to decimate TMC in Bengal

The leader of opposition in a scornful remark against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said people are ashamed of National Human Rights Commission's report on post-poll violence in West Bengal. He called Mamata as a 'non-MLA Chief Minister' during his address at Shranddhanjali Diwas programme on Wednesday.

Kolkata:The leader of opposition in West Bengal assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, on Wednesday, gave a virtual war cry vowing to finish the existence of the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal. “I will do anything to uproot Trinamool Congress from West Bengal,” he said while addressing Bharatiya Janata Party’s Shranddhanjali Diwas (Tribute Day) programme here on Wednesday. The programme was organized as a counter to Trinamool Congress’s July 21 Martyrs’ Day programme and was meant for paying tribute to Bharatiya Janata Party leaders allegedly killed by ruling party activists in the post-poll violence.

Adhikari addressed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as a 'non-MLA Chief Minister' in a sarcastic remark of his victory against her from Nandigram. Launching a scathing attack, he alleged people belonging to a particular community, appeased by the Chief Minister are disturbing the lives of Bengalis in the state.

Referring to the recent report by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), in which, several top Trinamool leaders, MLAs and Ministers were directly held responsible for instigating post-poll violence in the state, Adhikari said “The people of West Bengal are ashamed with NHRC’s observations.”

The NHRC submitted the report on the post-poll violence situation in the state on the direction of a five-judge bench of the Calcutta High Court. The report said that in West Bengal there was the only law of the ruler instead of the rule of law.

“She has relaxed lockdown in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic. The only thing that has remained suspended is the local train service. This is because the chief minister feels happy if the railways face loss. The school and colleges are closed. No one is allowed to speak against the fake vaccination scam,” he said.

He alleged that the Trinamool Congress leadership is putting unnecessary pressure on the Election Commission of India for conducting by-elections in the state. “It is a complete dichotomy. On one hand, the state government is delaying the polls of 110 municipalities and municipal corporations. There had been no students’ body election in any college for the last four years. But the chief minister is keen on by-elections for Bhabanipur assembly constituency. There is just one post in Trinamool, which is that of the chief minister. The others in the party are just lampposts,” Adhikari said.
