West Bengal bags Scotch Awards 2023

Speaking about the recognition, state Transport Minister Snehashish Chakraborty said such a recognition is encouraging.

Kolkata:West Bengal government received Scotch Award in recognition to good work in transport and fire fighting.

The news of Silver Award for the transport department came on Thursday night. The award has been announced as a mark of contribution for citizen-friendly services. Besides, two Order of Merit Awards have been given to the Transport Department for e-ticketing system water transport and innovative use of government bus depots. And for the innovative use of a 150-year-old traditional tram – the Scott Silver Award has been given.
Similarly, on Friday, the Scotch Silver Award for online management was given to the Fire Service Department. From any business to civilian life, fire department permits are important. Not only the cost of money but before doing any work in the fire department, one had to go around day in and day out. But modern online services have presented this fire department in a new way to the general public. Which has saved both money and time of the citizens. This time it was recognized through the silver award in the national field by the Centre.
This is not the first time that the state has won a Scotch Award. Earlier this year, Mamata Banerjee's dream project Lakshmi Bhandar won the Scotch Award.

Speaking about the recognition, state Transport Minister Snehashish Chakraborty said such a recognition is encouraging. "This recognition is a matter of pride for us. We hope that our good work will be recognised in the coming days," the transport minister told ETV Bharat. Fire minister Sujit Bose praised officials of the department for the award.
