Hooghly(WB): To cheer the celebration of democracy, several sweet shops in West Bengal have up come with a unique idea as they embossed political party symbols on the sweets.

This time rosogollas are also giving a new view as they are now coming in a varied hue of green, red and saffron, symbolising the colours of the main contending political parties in this 2019 general elections.

A traditional sweet shop outlet in Hooghly district is designing the sweets embossed with lotuses, Congress symbols, hammer and sickle and these sweets are flying off the shelves.

“We try to come up with a new variety and this time we have tried these party symbol embossed sweets for this upcoming election. We have also noticed that lotus embossed Sandesh has become an instant hit among many," said Amitava Dey, Owner of Felu Modak.

Dey also added that they are not only getting regular orders from Serampore Lok Sabha constituency, but customers from different constituencies are placing their orders.

"Rosogollas were earlier a common factor after the poll results but this year Rosogollas symbolising the colours of Trinamool Congress, Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and CPI(M) have become a hit. The Sandesh were also priced between Rs 50 and Rs 500, depending on the size and work,” Dey added.

Voters hope that this upcoming election process in West Bengal, ends on a sweet note.
