West Bengal BJP state committee to hold meeting tomorrow

West Bengal BJP state committee is slated to hold a meeting on Tuesday. If sources are to be believed, the party can take some crucial decisions in the meeting including the fate of some leaders.

Kolkata:The fate of crucial central leaders who were in charge of West Bengal during the last assembly elections, like Kailash Vijayvargiya might be decided in the crucial state committee meeting of BJP on Tuesday. The meeting will also discuss the initial blueprint of the party’s next pattern of activities in the coming days. BJP’s national president, JP Nadda will be attending the meeting.

According to BJP’s state general secretary, Sayantan Basu, the meeting held on aTuesday was an organizational meeting. “We will prepare a list of the issues against Trinamool Congress-led state government over which we will start massive movements in the coming days. After the meeting, state president, Dilip Ghosh and the leader of the opposition Suvendu Adhikari will jointly give the media briefing,” Basu said.

In the 2021 state assembly elections, Vijayvargiya was BJP’s central observer for West Bengal. BJP sources said that he used to give more emphasis to leaders like Mukul Roy who joined the saffron camp from Trinamool. So naturally, a distance with the lobby of Dilip Ghosh developed. After many BJP supporters were subjected to post-poll violence, there was no visible initiative by Vijayvargiya to stand by them or hit the streets. So it is being speculated that he might face agitation in Tuesday’s meeting.

Sources further said that Vijayvargiya was mainly responsible for backing those leaders who joined BJP from Trinamool. However, that experiment did not work and most of them got defeated. Now it is to be seen whether BJP central leadership relieves him of his role in West Bengal or not. However, BJP’s central leadership is also giving due importance to Suvendu Adhikari, who also joined BJP from Trinamool.

Sources further said that there are possibilities of major changes in the ranks of state general secretaries and district presidents after Tuesday’s meeting. “BJP leadership wants to start the movements against the state government with a leadership team,” a senior BJP leader said on condition of anonymity. At the same time, another major question is that whether Rajib Bandopadhyay and Sabyasachi Dutta, who have started singing in a different note after the election results, will be attending the meeting or not?
