Howrah (West Bengal): Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited a control room at the state secretariat to monitor the situation arising out of Cyclone Bulbul on Saturday.
The 'severe' cyclonic storm Bulbul lay centred over coastal West Bengal about 100 km southeast of Kolkata at 12:30 am on Sunday, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

It weakened into a 'severe' cyclonic storm from 'very severe' cyclonic storm late on Saturday. The cyclone is further expected to weaken into cyclone storm by Sunday morning.
According to the Kolkata unit of IMD, the cyclone's landfall process continues and the entire process will take another two hours.
Light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to continue over South and North 24 Parganas, during the next 12 hours and isolated heavy falls over West and East Medinipur during the next six hours.
