Burdwan: Amid the ongoing exits from the party, TMC MLA from Bardhaman Dakhin Rabiranjan Chattopadhyay on Wednesday said he will not contest the upcoming assembly elections due to his age and health issues. He also sent a letter regarding this to the party supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
According to a source, Chattopadhyay wrote, in his letter to the Chief Minister, "I don't like politics anymore. Moreover, I am also growing old. Therefore, I do not want to contest the upcoming assembly elections."
The veteran leader is also a former minister for the departments of Technical Education & Training and Science & Technology & Biotechnology.
Meanwhile, former police chief Humayun Kabir joined TMC at a public meeting in Kalna on Tuesday.
