Kolkata (West Bengal ):Senior TMC MLA and former Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation Mayor Sabyasachi Dutta Tuesday joined BJP in the presence of BJP National president Amit Shah here.

TMC MLA Sabyasachi Dutta joins BJP "For me, the country and its interests are much bigger than personal or a party's interests. India has achieved new heights under the leadership of Prime minister Narendra Modi," Dutta said.
Sabyasachi Dutta, who is a two-time TMC MLA from Rajarhat Newtown constituency, had recently resigned as mayor of the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation.
Sabyasachi Dutta was pulled up by the TMC when West Bengal chief minister and party supremo Mamata Banerjee asked him to step down as the mayor of the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation, accusing him of making anti-party statements. Dutta, however, refused to do so.
Following this, a no-confidence motion was brought against him by a majority of TMC councillors in July this year.
Challenging the motion, Sabyasachi Dutta had approached the Calcutta High Court first but later tendered his resignation as he was at loggerheads with the TMC leadership
