New Delhi: The Supreme Court has issued notice to West Bengal government and sought its response over a plea seeking an investigation into the killing of two BJP activists.
The bench comprising of Justice Vineet Saran and Justice BR Gavai was hearing a petition filed by families of two BJP activists who were allegedly killed by TMC workers on the day on counting.
One Petitioner is the brother of deceased Avijit Sarkar and the other is the widow of deceased Haran Adhikari.
Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani appearing for the petitioner submitted before the court that it is an extremely serious matter and needs to be investigated by the Special Investigating Team. He argued that the two activists were brutally murdered and were left to die, while the state police remained inactive.
