Kolkata: Kolkata Police has arrested another associate of Debanjan Deb, who was apprehended for allegedly masterminding fake vaccination camps in the metropolis, officials said on Saturday. So far, nine people have been held in connection with the case, they said. The man was arrested near the Central Metro Station in B B Ganguly Street late on Friday. "The accused is a resident of Tangra and had played a key role in organising a vaccination camp at City College," a senior police officer said.
The sleuths of the detective department (DD) of Kolkata Police, who are investigating the fake vaccination scam at Kasba in the southern finger of Kolkata on June 1 have arrested one more person in this connection. The arrested person is Ashoke Ray. He was arrested from Birati in the northern fringes of Kolkata on late Wednesday night by the DD sleuths. The prime accused in the fake vaccination scandal, Debanjan Deb rented the office space at Rajdanga in Kasba from this person at a monthly rent of RS 65,000. In fact, Deb used to run his fake vaccination camp from this office.

DD sources said that Roy used to do several fictitious activities on behalf of Debanjan. Once Deb claimed that as a bureaucrat he led a team that raided a fake edible oil factory. He also claimed that he worked as a nodal officer in an election. It is alleged that Ray managed to get this news published in a local daily newspaper.
