Bengal: Polygamist lands in jail, following complaints by his two wives

A man having multiple wives was arrested on Saturday from West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district, after he was caught red- handed along with present wife by two of his previous ones.

Jalpaiguri (West Bengal):A man having multiple wives was arrested on Saturday from West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district, after he was caught red- handed along with present wife by two of his previous ones. The accused person Rahul Singh has a total of six wives. He used to allure women with job promises and eventually married them.

Singh, hailed from Vaishali in Bihar. He was settled with his current and sixth wife Neora Tea Garden in Jalpaiguri district in West Bengal. On August 29, 2021, two women came to his residence and alleged that Singh had got married to both of them at varied times before. They even furnished documents supporting their claims.

The local people and the two women informed the local Mal Police station. The police came to his residence and arrested the man on charges of getting illegally married to multiple women. He has also been charged with forgery and duping money from people against job promises. The police has already filed an FIR on this count. He has been produced in the court and later shifted to a prison.
