Planning & Statistics Minister of West Bengal Tapas Roy has been asked to vacate his house as a precautionary measure at Bowbazar following cracks in most of the adjacent buildings due to the underground tunnel boring work for East-West metro railway project.

Kolkata: Planning & Statistics Minister of West Bengal Tapas Roy was asked to vacate his house on Thursday as a precautionary measure at Bowbazar following cracks in most of the adjacent buildings due to the underground tunnel boring work for East-West metro railway project.

The Mangal Jyoti apartment at 105 B. B. Ganguly Street In Kolkata was damaged due to the project. The apartment was built 15 years ago. For 14 years, 8 families have lived in that apartment.

Minister Tapas Roy said that he was a bit shocked at the sudden eviction order. However, as instructed, he is leaving home with his family.

"It's too bad to leave the house like this. Not only this, It's bad for every person. Thus, I am feeling bad for the people who are leaving home for the East-West Metro project," Roy said.

Shubhra, the wife of Tapas Roy, said that people in the area are feeling very bad about leaving in such difficult circumstances. They have lived in this area for 40 years. He never imagined that such a situation would ever happen.
