Kolkata:A quarrel over water between two neighbours turned bloody which resulted in the killing of a man by another at Kushtia area in Kolkata on Sunday. According to sources, Samir Khan got embroiled in a quarrel with Sajjad Khan over drinking water from a pump at their locality.

The initial verbal spat turned ugly when family members of both neighbours got involved in the quarrel which escalated soon. Suddenly Samir, who had a a tiff with Sajjad Khan's father over an issue earlier, arrived in the scene and attacked his neighbour with scissor. Sajjad, who was profusely bleeding after receiving multiple injuries, was rushed to the National Medical College where doctors declared him dead. The accused is absconding and a search is on to arrest him, police said.
Deceased Sajjad is survived by his wife and two children. A case has been registered at Karea Police Station under section 302 of Indian Penal Code. Locals, who were shocked at the suddenness of the incident, said they are surprised over the alacrity with which Samir got embroiled in a war of words with Sajjad who could hardly save himself from Samir's attack. He took out a sharp scissor and stabbed him indiscriminately all over his body, leaving him in a poll of blood and fled soon after committing the crime. Looking at Sajjad's condition, relatives and neighbours rushed him to the hospital, where doctors made all possible attempt to save his life. Kolkata police sleuths are now investigating the case.
