Raiganj (West Bengal):In a heart-rending incident, a man carried his infant son's body in a bus from Siliguri to Kaliaganj after stuffing it in a bag as he could not hire an ambulance as the driver demanded a huge amount, which he could not afford. As soon as the news of the incident came to light, BJP leaders lashed out at the TMC government for not providing ambulance facilities to the poor.

According to family sources, the wife of Ashim Debsharma, a resident of Dangipara village in Mustafanagar panchayat of Kaliaganj block, gave birth to twins. After five months, two children fell ill. Both of them were admitted to Kaliaganj State General Hospital on May 7. As their condition deteriorated, they were shifted to Raiganj Government Medical College and Hospital on May 8.
