WB Guv asks Mamata to apologize for comments over attack on Nadda's convoy

West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday said that CM Mamata Banerjee should apologise for comments she made yesterday over attack on J P Nadda's convoy. He alleged the violators of law in Bengal have the protection of police and administration.

Kolkata:CM Mamata Banerjee should apologise for comments she made yesterday over attack on J P Nadda's convoy, said West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday.

Dhankar also said, " The events that happened yesterday are most unfortunate. They are a slur on our democratic fabric. Mamata Banerjee should apologise for yesterday's comments on J P Nadda's Diamond Harbour visit. She should not play with fire."

"Everyone has rights to go everywhere. How can a responsible CM says all those things," Dhankar added.

He said it is shameful that such an incident occurred on International Human Rights Day.

"I have sent my report to the central government whose contents cannot be shared on account of propriety," he told during a press conference at Raj Bhawan.

He alleged the violators of law in Bengal have the protection of police and administration.

"The Governor will vindicate his oath, come what may," he asserted, adding it was his duty to protect the Constitution.

"Accountability will be enforced," he said, and asked Banerjee "not to play with fire".

Earlier yesterday, the BJP had said that BJP chief Jagat Prakash Nadda's convoy was attacked and several party leaders including Kailash Vijayvargiya were injured when protesters pelted stones at their vehicles at Diamond Harbour.
