Kolkata:The assembly constituencies in the Birbhum district of West Bengal are going for polls in the eighth phase on April 29, 2021. Just before that a fresh round of tussle is brewing between the ruling parties at the centre and the state. The Income Tax department has served notice to Anubarata Mandal and four of his relatives. Anubrata Mandal is the TMC Birbhum district president and a party heavyweight. Highly placed sources from the Income Tax department have also confirmed the news.

However, there has been no official statement either from the Income Tax department or from Anubrata Mandal on this issue. Sources have also revealed the notice is related to the disproportionate property to income ratio applicable for Mandal and four of his relatives. Those served with the notices have been asked to reply within a week.
