Kolkata:West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose on Monday attacked the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress government over its alleged failure to control the deteriorating law and order in the state.
Bose, who was speaking at the convocation ceremony of Rabindra Bharati University, further said he can't sit idle and allow the law and order situation to deteriorate further. "I can't sit duck and ignore what's happening in the state. As a constitutional head, I've some responsibilities. I've my eyes and ears open and taking stock of the failed law and order situation in West Bengal," Bose said.

Bose also said that he will not be able to sit like Shakespeare's Hamlet. At present, the state government is at loggerheads with the Governor over a few issues. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is known for her criticism of the governor over the latter's take on several issues.
The Governor also pinned hope on the merit of students from West Bengal saying boys and girls from the state are going to excel in the education and job arena. "I want and hope that students from the state will go places and earn a good name for West Bengal in the days to come.
He spoke highly of the national education policy which, he said, is meant for helping students and teachers to evolve to bring positive changes. Bose's comments on deteriorating law and order situation in West Bengal are likely to anger the state government which has often countered Bose for his remarks earlier. State education minister Bratya Basu courted controversy for his attack on Bose who, he said, was doing multiple things without taking the opinion of the state.
