Darjeeling:Darjeeling police on Monday arrested three people for possession of 130 gold bar worth around Rs 30 crore at Chekamari Naka under Kharibari police station.
Weighing a total of 21 kg 573 grams, the gold bars were seized when the men were stopped and searched at the Naka check post.
Gold worth Rs 30 crore seized in Darjeeling Along with the bars, cash and 5 mobile phones were also seized by the police.
According to Darjeeling SP Santosh Nimbalkar, Driver Md. Afroz Sangpal along with the two accused Sashikant Sampal, 29, and Anil Gumade, 40, were travelling in a vehicle with the gold. Apart from the police team, a team of the Excise department was also present during the arrest.

He added that the seizure was done in front of the Siliguri Executive Magistrate along with panchayat members and that a case has been registered at Kharibari police station under Sections 379, 411 and 413 of IPC.
Further investigation is on.
