COVID-19 restrictions in Bengal extended till month end

The West Bengal government, on Wednesday, announced the extension of the COVID-19 induced restrictions till July 30. However, considering the improving situation and the southward COVID-19 graph, the state government allowed further relaxation during the interim period.

Kolkata (West Bengal):The West Bengal government, on Wednesday, announced the extension of the COVID-19 induced restrictions till July 30. However, considering the improving situation and the southward COVID-19 graph, the state government allowed further relaxation during the interim period.

The state government announced that from July 16 the metro railways services would be allowed to operate with 50% seating capacity from Monday to Friday. However, the metro services will remain suspended on weekends for sanitization. Also, the state government has not given permission to resume local train services.

The government also announced the daily operation of 96 pairs of metro rail between Monday and Friday, with a maximum capacity of 600 passengers per train. The restrictions are also removed regarding the timing of the markets. However, the educational institutions and cinema halls will remain suspended for the time being. The bank timings are also extended for one hour till 3 PM. The state government also allowed 50 people to attend the marriage ceremony and funeral related functions.
