New Delhi: A day after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gave a call for 'Nabanna Chalo', the Congress is also gearing up for a rally in Kolkata to corner the Trinamool-led government in West Bengal.

The rally is going to be held on Saturday.

The newly-appointed state in-charge for Bengal Jitin Prasada said that the party will raise people's issue in the state under the leadership of Adhir Ranjan Chowdhry, who is the party's state president.

Prasada said, "Saturday rally will focus on price rise, massive unemployment, rising electricity bills, which is due to the failure of the state government as there is a massive corruption going on in the state "

The Congress is also wary of the state oppression of the opposition workers and leaders, an issue the BJP has been raising for some time now.

While the BJP is working hard to take on Mamata Banerjee in the state, the Congress is yet to restructure its organisation.

Jitin Prasada said, "Congress will be soon announcing state committees."

When asked about the current alliance with the TMC, he said that the party is strengthening itself in the state and he did not want to comment on it.

West Bengal President Adhir Ranjan Chowdhry said, "Congress is fighting both the Central and the state governments. Congress stood with the farmers of the country even when the British rulers acted against their interests. The situation is no different today, wherever there is injustice, wherever there is oppression, Congress will always stand up for them."
