Centre sends 3 IPS officers on deputation over attack on Nadda's convoy

Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee has written to the Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, protesting against the Home Ministry's letter ordering central deputation to three IPS officers who were in charge of BJP president JP Nadda' convoy.

Kolkata: Three IPS officers from West Bengal have been called on central deputation over the alleged lapse in security of BJP president JP Nadda. Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee wrote a letter to the Home Minister regarding the summons of the Chief Secretary and the Director General. In the letter, TMC MP said the law and order is a matter for the state as per the Indian Constitution.

Following the attacks on Nadda's convoy in Diamond Harbour, the centre has alleged that the security of the BJP president was negligent. Today, the centre sent IG (South Bengal) Rajiv Mishra, Diamond Harbor Superintendent of Police Bholanath Pandey and DIG (President Range) Praveen Kumar Tripathi on central deputation. The three IPS officers were in charge of the security of Nadda's convoy.

Mr Banerjee alleged that this incident has a political agenda. In a letter to the Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, who reports to Mr Shah, Trinamool MP Kalyan Banerjee protested the ministry's letter dated Friday which asked the chief secretary of Bengal to release three Indian Police Service (IPS) officers for central deputation.

"All three officers were deployed on 10th December nearby at the place of occurrence. Your motive is very clear that by taking them, you want to create pressure upon the said three police officers," he wrote in his letter.

Stones were pelted at Nadda's convoy and several party leaders including Kailash Vijayvargiya were injured at Diamond Harbour.
