BJP set to unleash its own field force to checkmate PK's survey team in Bengal

In the recently concluded West Bengal assembly elections, the survey team of political strategist, Prashant Kishor, worked wonders for Trinamool Congress. Now, BJP is all set to replicate that model and launch its own survey team in the state. The survey team members will do in-depth public relations exercises in different corners of the state.

Kolkata: In the recently concluded West Bengal assembly elections, the survey team of political strategist, Prashant Kishor, worked wonders for Trinamool Congress. Now, BJP is all set to replicate that model and launch its own survey team in the state. The survey team members will do in-depth public relations exercises in different corners of the state. BJP sources said that the members of the survey team will be selected by the BJP's Central IT Cell through interviews. Before sending them to the field, they will be given special training.

Sources further said that these survey teams will be launched in all the 39 organizational districts of the party in the state. The initiative has been mooted, keeping in mind the crucial 2024 Lok Sabha elections. There will be booth-level survey teams. In the initial stage, these survey teams will be launched in 20 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state and in due course, it will cover all the 42 Parliamentary constituencies.

Confirming this development, BJP State General Secretary, Sayantan Basu told ETV Bharat that these survey teams are being launched following the instructions of the party's central leadership in New Delhi. "Already, the process has started in 10 Lok Sabha constituency areas. The initial work has started. They will move around in areas slotted for them, speak to the people and collect information. We will send the data collected by them to our central leadership in New Delhi and then taken action based on the inputs from the high command," Basu said.

Party sources said that that there will be booth-wise survey teams. They will collect information about the existing socio-political situation in respective localities. They will especially gather information from people about benefits received by them from centrally-sponsored projects and who did not get it. They will also collect data on the typical problems faced by people in a particular locality. The state leadership will compile and send the data to the party's central leadership in New Delhi.

Since the results of the 2021 West Bengal assembly elections were announced, the state BJP leadership had been facing problems in keeping its organisation intact. The grassroots level party workers are either shying away from the party or joining Trinamool Congress. So naturally, the party public relations exercise in the state was getting hampered. Hence, they are replicating PK's strategy by launching its own survey teams. Now, it remains to be seen whether the party will be benefitted or not in the days to come.
