BJP leader Pamela Goswami demands CID probe, blames party colleague of conspiracy

BJP youth leader Pamela Goswami, who was arrested on Friday in Kolkata with drugs, demanded a CID probe into the case, adding that Rakesh Singh — a close aide of Kailash Vijayavargiya — conspired against her.

Kolkata:Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) youth leader Pamela Goswami, who was arrested for allegedly possessing cocaine in her car in Kolkata, on Saturday said she has been falsely accused and demanded a CID investigation in the case. Meanwhile, the NDPS court in Kolkata has sent Goswami to police custody till February 25.

While Goswami was being taken to the lock-up from the court, she demanded the arrest of BJP leader Rakesh Singh, a close aide of BJP Bengal in-charge, Kailash Vijayvargiya.

"I want a CID investigation. BJP's Rakesh Singh, the aide of Kailash Vijayvargiya, should be arrested. This is his conspiracy," Goswami said.

Meanwhile, Singh, a BJP state committee member, alleged that the ruling Trinamool Congress and the Kolkata Police were conspiring against him and have 'brainwashed' Goswami.

He said that he has not been in touch with Goswami for more than a year and was ready to face any investigation.

“If I am involved, they can call me or Kailash Vijayvargiya or Amit Shah. I think the police have brainwashed her. I am not in touch with Pamela for more than one-and-a half-years now,” Singh said to the reporters.

“This can be that the Kolkata Police is following the Trinamool Congress’s instructions. They are conspiring against me. These are baseless accusations and I am ready to face any challenge,” he added.

The Trinamool Congress said that the whole episode portrays the “true character” of the BJP. On the other hand, Kailash Vijayvargiya denied having any knowledge of the incident.

"If there is anyone guilty, the law will take action. The law should be relied upon," Vijayavargiya said.

BJP State President Dilip Ghosh also refused to make any comment on Pamela's accusation against Singh.

Meanwhile, the police alleged Goswami and his friend were carrying cocaine worth lakhs of rupees. According to the police, around 100 gm of cocaine “worth a few lakh of rupees” was found from her handbag and other parts of the car.
