Kolkata:Following the announcement of Telugu being accepted as one of the official language of West Bengal, the people of the 'Mini Andhra Pradesh' in the state are overwhelmed.

The secretary of the Telugu association B Seth Giri Rao said, “We are very happy that the state government has responded to our request after a long time. It will match a lot of our government facilities. Opposition will do politics and that is normal. But we have nothing to do with their politics. Party-politics does not run our society. We look at them, who fulfilled our demands."

However, the BJP deemed the government's decision as a conspiracy before elections.

B Soma, vice-president of the BJP in Kharagpur, said, "With four months to go before the polls, the recognition is being given to the Telugu people for their own party in the political interest. If they had to be recognized, what were they doing in past 10 years? However, the Trinamool will not be able to reduce the BJP's vote anyway."
