A dark day for the Comrades in West Bengal

After the 2011 elections, the Communists' fortunes went only in one direction - downhill. As per reports from the 2021 Assembly elections results, the party has been completely decimated, it is just leading in two seats.

Hyderabad: The CPM once dominated the political scene in West Bengal. It was an impregnable fortress for the CPM who formed government seven consecutive times in the state from 1972 to 2006.

The decline of the Communist Party started after losing the 2011 Assembly elections when the TMC defeated it. After the 2011 elections, the Communists' fortunes went only in one direction - downhill.

As per reports from the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections results, the party has been completely decimated, it is just leading in two seats. It is a truly dark day for the CPM in West Bengal. A massive blow to the Communists' politics in the state.
