Kolkata: In a happy turn of events, a 32-day-old baby, who had tested positive for coronavirus around one month ago, was cured and discharged with his mother who had been looking after him, on Wednesday from a private hospital at Anandapur in Kolkata.
After recovering from coronavirus, the doctors and health workers clapped for a newborn who defeated the disease. This is one positive case which gives a hope that a person can conquer COVID-19 pandemic.
It is being seen as positive news amidst all negative reports from the state. West Bengal has reported many cases of coronavirus and the capital is severely affected with the pandemic.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Dr Sumita Saha said," Earlier, both mother-son duo tested positive for coronavirus. Later, the mother was found to be negative but the baby was positive. When the baby was admitted to hospital, his weight was only 1.3 kgs. The major challenge for the doctors was to save the baby from the infection. The infant was shifted to the isolation ward, where his mother took care of him with all precautions."
"The tests conducted twice of both mother and baby were negative. The baby and his mother both recovered from coronavirus. Now the mother-son duo has been discharged from hospital. The baby is probably the world's lightest weight COVID survivor. Earlier, an 1.5 kg UK child recovered from coronavirus," Dr Saha said.
