Uttarakhand: Sadhvi at Patanjali Yogpeeth allegedly commits suicide

A sadhvi in the Vedic Kanya Gurukul, a branch of Patanjali Yogpeeth, has allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the roof of a building under suspicious circumstances.

Haridwar (Uttarakhand ):A 24-year-old woman in the Vedic Kanya Gurukul, a branch of Patanjali Yogpeeth, has allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the fifth floor of a building under suspicious circumstances, said police.

After getting the information, the police reached the spot.

According to the police, the woman was a resident of Madhya Pradesh who was studying in the gurukul since 2018. She was also teaching in the Gurukul for the last 6 years.

The police are probing the incident, however, the cause behind the extreme step is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, SP City Kamlesh Upadhyay said that cause behind the step will be known after proper investigation.

The incident has created a stir in the Gurukul premises.

Bahadrabad cop Parvez Ali said, "A suicide note has been recovered from the deceased in which she spoke about her spiritual leanings, but not about reasons behind her extreme step,"

"The woman belonged to the Mandsaur district in Madhya Pradesh and her parents have been informed about the incident. The police will proceed with the formalities upon their arrival," he further added.
