In the meeting, discussions were held regarding the vacant Haldwani and Gangotri seats. These seats are lying vacant after the demises of the MLAs.

This meeting came in the wake of the Uttarakhand BJP's 'Chintan Shivir'. CM Tirath Singh Rawat was asked to report in Delhi by the BJP high command. Due to this sudden visit by the Uttarakhand CM to Delhi, speculations are doing the rounds in the political corridors. However, the CM has made it clear that his visit is about the strategy of the upcoming election and discussions on key pointers of the state BJP's Chintan Shivir.

Meanwhile, Congress state vice president Suryakant Dhasmana took a dig at the Chief Minister's visit to Delhi. He said that Trivendra Singh Rawat, former Uttarakhand CM, was suddenly called to Delhi by the high command during the Gairsain session. BJP removed Trivendra Singh Rawat as the CM of the state and replaced him with Tirath Singh Rawat. Now God forbid that whatever happened to Trivendra Singh Rawat should not happen to Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat.

The most important thing is that it will be necessary for CM Tirath Singh Rawat to win the MLA election before September 9. However, Congress raised the question that there are provisions that if assembly elections are to be held within a year, then by-elections will not be held. Tirath Singh is not a member of the state assembly at present. He is currently a Lok Sabha MP from Tehri Garhwal. In such a situation, he must win the assembly seat to remain as the chief minister of the state.

To be in the post of CM after September 9, it will be necessary for Tirath Singh Rawat to win the election of MLA. At the same time, by-elections cannot be held under section 151A of the Representation of the People Act. Because less than a year is left for the assembly elections in the state. In this case, by-elections cannot be held. That is why there is a crisis in the state BJP circles.
