Udham Singh Nagar: In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has adopted a new method to ensure the participation of women in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

ECI has introduced nine all-women polling booths in nine assembly constituencies of Uttarakhand's Udham Singh Nagar district to increase the women voting percentage.

There will be 1,402 polling booths in the nine assembly constituencies where nine booths will be managed and operated by all-women teams, which would include armed female cops for security.

Apart from cops, presiding officers, polling officers and all other staff would be women employees.
