Six tigers to be shifted from Jim Corbett National Park to Rajaji

Dehradun:The efforts made by the Uttarakhand Forest Department for the last one and a half years are now going to bring colour. The western area of Rajaji National Park is going to be once again populated by tigers.

According to the forest officials, there used to be a significant number of tigers here, but due to increasing human activities, tigers have found other places for safer side. In a move to Uttarakhand Forest Department has prepared to shift six tigers from Jim Corbett National Park.

Due to Rajaji National Park area being very large, there are immense possibilities for tigers to thrive here. In particular, its western area is considered to be suitable only for tigers. There was a time when there were many tigers here, but due to increasing human activities, now only 2 tigers are left here. Given the large area here, the department is going to shift 6 tigers here one by one.

In the last 5 years in Corbett, about 9 tigers, 6 leopards and 13 elephants have lost their lives in mutual conflict. This is happening due to the high number of tigers.

It is said where there are tigers, the forest is healthy and after the arrival of tigers in the western region of Rajaji, the forest here will become even greener. The process of shifting the tiger will start in one and a half months.
