This stone-age cave is called Gorkhya Udiyar, which is bearing the brunt of the state government's indifference, hence creating resentment amongst the locals.

Gorkhya Udiyar is located at the top part of a standing rock, which is 300 meters above the Alaknanda river bank. The wall of the caves is adorned with carvings of animals such as deers, goats, hunters in red colour.

If historians are to be believed, these carvings have been made by stone-age men, depicting the process of hunting.

As per information, there were 41 such prehistoric images in the cave, but with the onset of tourists, many images have been vandalised.

As per the locals of Dungri village, the name of the cave has been kept as per the local language.

The villagers have demanded the administration to take necessary steps to preserve the cave and to undo the damage as the cave represents the gone days of primitive society.
