World's largest lamp is the newest attraction of Mahakumbh Mela

The ongoing Mahakumbh Mela in Haridwar has a new attraction - the world's largest oil lamp. This lamp was lit in Kumbh Mela's Astha Path today and is dedicated to corona warriors. The lamp has a capacity of 2247 litres of oil and is also registered in the Guinness Book of World Records. MI India has donated the lamp.

Haridwar: The ongoing Mahakumbh Mela in Haridwar has a new attraction - the world's largest oil lamp. This lamp was lit in Kumbh Mela's Astha Path today and is dedicated to corona warriors. The lamp has a capacity of 2247 litres of oil and is also registered in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Haridwar's District Magistrate and Kumb Mela official, Deepak Rawat, inaugurated the lamp and dedicated it to the corona warriors. He further added that the lamp will serve as an inspiration for everyone during the ongoing Covid-19 crisis. The lamp has been donated by a highly popular smartphone and smart TV brand, MI India.

Earlier, the company had unveiled the lamp in Kolkata during the last year's Durga Puja. The installation was termed as the 'Ray of Hope' and entered the Guinness World Records as the world's 'Largest Oil Lamp'. MI India has now donated the lamp to Kumbh Mela organising committee. A MI India official added that the company will manage and bear the cost of lighting the lamp for few days. Later, the Haridwar district administration will take over.
