Kedarnath, an uphill struggle for devotees!

Kedarnath:Inclement weather conditions and tough trekking route has not deterred the pilgrims from visiting the famous Kedarnath Dham. This year, the number of people on the pilgrimage has surpassed all records, with thousands across the country reaching the Dham.

The frequently changing weather is posing as a threat to the roads and the pedestrian route. The falling debris from the hill is another big risk.

The slopes on the Kedarnath route are too steep which gives a tough time to the pedestrians. People walk gingerly on the roads fearing the earth under their feet might slide.

Though the state government is working overtime to repair and construct the roads, the condition of the route is still not favourable. The devotees, young and old, have to walk to the temple. Rains at short intervals, which have kept the soil wet, are adding to their woes.

While talking to ETV Bharat, one of the devotees said, "The roads need to be repaired. We had faced lots of problems reaching the shrine. On one side of the road, pilgrims walk, whereas, on the other side, horses and mule carrying passengers and luggage pass through. Because of this, walking on this slippery path becomes more difficult and dangerous for us."
