Rudraprayag (Uttarakhand): Amid the ongoing Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag, incessant rains and snow have brought down the temperatures with police issuing an advisory for the devotees due to inclement weather. It has been raining and snowing in the district for the last two weeks as a result of which there has been a significant drop in the temperature.
On Monday morning, the devotees were seen standing in line waiting for their turn for darshan with umbrellas amid the incessant rain and snowfall. Due to the inclement weather, the Uttarakhand Police has appealed to the devotees to be alert about the bad weather in Kedarnath Dham. The Uttarakhand Police has also set up a helpline 112 in case of any emergency help.

Elsewhere, due to heavy rains in Srinagar area of Pauri district, the police appealed the devotees not to travel beyond Devprayag, Srinagar and Kirtinagar. Pertinently, given the huge rush of devotees for the Char Dham Yatra, the Uttarakhand government has asked the pilgrims to register for the Kedarnath Dham pilgrimage only after May 1 amid the inclement weather.
Many pilgrims have died due to alck of oxygen at the higher reaches of the Himalayas. According to officials, more than 2,000 pilgrims have been provided medical assistance by the doctors along the Char Dham yatra route. As on Apr. 29, more than 70,000 pilgrims had visited Kedarnath Dham. It can be recalled that the shrines of Gangotri and Yamunotri opened on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, the Badrinath Dham was opened on Apr. 27.
According to officials, more than 16 lakh people from India and abroad have registered for the Chardham Yatra.
