Dehradun:Covid-19 infection has put a hold on all training activities in Forest Research Institute, Dehradun. The decision came in the wake of 14 trainee IFS officials having tested Corona positive. Further, test reports of around 29 trainee IFS officials and 67 staff members are still awaited.
On Tuesday, 8 trainee IFS officials tested positive for Covid. On Wednesday, reports of 6 more trainees came positive. Following the positive test reports, the institute conducted RT-PCR tests of all trainees and staff members. The result of the tests are still awaited and most likely to arrive by today evening.
The institute has decided to stop all training-related activities for the next 3 days till Sunday. Online training will be imparted to trainees for the next 10 days from Monday. FRI has also decided not to allow any visitors and travellers inside the campus for the next 10 days. Ironically, Uttrakhand's first Covid case was also reported from FRI when a trainee IFS official tested positive for Corona last year.
Uttrakhand reports 1109 infections, 5 deaths in 24 hours
Uttrakhand is also seeing an increase in daily Covid infection. After a gap of 6-months, the state's daily infection rate has crossed over 1000. On Wednesday, 1109 new cases were reported from 10 districts along with 5 deaths. To date, the total infected cases have touched 1,04,711 out of which active cases remain 4,526. As per the health department, test reports of 31,249 samples came and out of which 1,109 people were tested positive. In the previous 24 hours, 817 cases were reported from Dehradun and Haridwar district.
