Fierce leopard attacks six, after biker hits cub

A female leopard injured six people after a biker hit the leopard's cub with his bike. The incident took place in the Western Forest Division of Uttarakhand's Jaspur, where the leopard turned fierce and attacked many residents, informed locals.

Ramnagar (Uttarakhand): A female leopard injured six people in the wee hours of Thursday after a biker hit the leopard's cub with his bike. The incident took place in the Western Forest Division of Uttarakhand's Jaspur, where the leopard turned fierce and attacked many residents, informed locals.

The incident created panic among the locals, after which they informed the forest department officials. As the forest department team reached the spot, the leopard along with the cub entered the sugarcane field.

According to locals, after a while, the leopard entered the residential area of the village and attacked the local residents. A man identified as Brijendra Singh was seriously injured in the attack.

The locals alleged that the forest department personnel are not patrolling the area properly nor were adequate arrangements were made to counter the terror of leopards.

Speaking on the matter, forest area officer Anil Chauhan said, "The forest department team is continuously patrolling the area. After receiving the orders from the higher officials, a cage and camera trap will be installed soon to catch the leopard."
