Dehradun: "My father has asked me to skip the examinations as I don't have any resources to travel to Haridwar. My whole academic year will get wasted if I will not reach the city before June 20," sobbed Manisha while explaining her condition to ETV Bharat.
Stranded student gets assistance from Uttarakhand Education Minister Manisha, a resident of Uttarakhand's Haridwar is a class 10th student and is stranded in her native village in Pauri district due to the coronavirus induced nationwide lockdown. Her board examinations are scheduled to be held from June 20th and due to her family's financial constraints, she is unable to return to Haridwar. Manisha fears that due to her economic condition, she will have to skip her examinations and her entire academic year will get wasted.
Taking cognisance of the matter, ETV Bharat's Bureau Chief Kirankant Sharma contacted Manisha and assured her of all possible assistance. While speaking to ETV Bharat, Manisha said, "I don't think that I will be able to come to Haridwar by booking a car. Only if buses or trains were in service, I would have reached there." Her father had asked her to leave the examination and the very thought of quitting brought tears to her eyes.
After ETV Bharat highlighted the plight of this student, State Education Minister Arvind Pandey came forward to help Manisha and said that she will soon be able to appear for her examinations. The minister took to Twitter and assured her that she will be provided all the assistance. The minister also said that if Manisha wants, her examination centre will be shifted to Kotdwar.
