ETV Bharat impact: GB Pant varsity gets contracts for disposal of e-waste

To solve the problem of e-waste, scientists of G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Uttarakhand has found bacteria which can degrade the waste materials generated by the electronic equipment in just two days. After the report of ETV Bharat, scientists of Pantnagar University have been approached by companies from Maharashtra and Kerala to obtain the technology for disposal of e-waste.

Rudrapur (Uttarakhand): After 18 years of tireless efforts by scientists of GB Pant Agriculture and University of Technology, biodegradation technology in Uttarakhand's Pantnagar has discovered a technology for disposal of e-waste.

Within a few days of publishing the news in ETV Bharat, two companies from Maharashtra and Karnataka have contacted scientists of the varsity to obtain this technology. For which the team of scientists has thanked ETV Bharat.

According to the scientist, Dr MGH Zaidi of GB Pant Agriculture University, e-waste is generally recycled as household and electronic products of poor standards. To solve this problem, scientists of Pantnagar University for the last 18 years were engaged in developing the method and technology of biological decomposition of bacteria of various plastic materials.

In this connection, Dr Zaidi and his assistants at the university are working to develop a technology of bio-disintegration method.

"E-waste can be disposed of scientifically without harming the environment. This formula has been discovered by the team of scientists. Scientists researched for the disposal of e-waste for 18 years, in which 45 types of micro-organisms were discovered from the soil. After which the micro-organisms can be disposed of by cutting small pieces of e-waste," said Dr MGH Zaidi.

He expressed gratitude to ETV Bharat for publishing the report and said that more people should come forward for this, only then the problem of e-waste can be solved from the country and the world.
