Congress to suffer 5-0 whitewash: Uttarakhand CM

Taking a dig at Congress, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that he expects a clear victory for the BJP in Uttarakhand. The first phase of 2019 Lok Sabha polling is underway in all five parliamentary constituencies of the state.

Dehradun:Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Thursday said he was confident of BJP's 5-0 sweep in this parliamentary elections.

"I am expecting a 5-0 whitewash of the Congress. We will repeat 2014," said Rawat after casting his vote with his family members at Defence Colony polling booth area in Haridwar parliamentary constituency.

The BJP won all the five seats in 2014.

"We will win with a huge margin," stated BJP President Ajay Bhatt, who voted at Ranikhet in Almora district, part of Almora Lok Sabha segment.

On the other hand Congress too had its share of claims for victory. After visiting a number of polling booths in Dehradun city, PCC chief Pritam Singh, who is pitted against Mala Rajyalaksmi Shah in Tehri Lok Sabha constituency claimed that his party will win all five seats in the state.

"After reading the mood of the people, I can say with confidence that the Congress will sweep Uttarakhand," said Singh.
