Rudraprayag (Uttarakhand): The ongoing registration process for the pilgrims undertaking the Char Dham Yatra in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand has been put on hold. The inclement weather condition in the Kedar Valley for the past several days has stalled the Char Dham Yatra. The registration process has been stopped till May 3. Earlier, it was till April 30.
Devotees, especially elderly persons, have been facing health risks due to the incessant rains and snowfall in the region. In view of the bad weather condition, the district administration has been appealing to pilgrims to defer the yatra plan. The people are being asked to stay at camps. The pilgrims are being told to resume yatra when there is an improvement in the weather condition. The camps have all the arrangements for the safety and well-being of pilgrims. The police and district administration have been using the public address system, making an announcement not to undertake the Char Dham pilgrimage.
