Banks in Uttarakhand will be operational from 8 am to 1 pm

District Magistrate Dr Vijay Kumar Jogdande has directed all the 113 branches of the district to operate from 8 am to 1 pm to evade inconvenience to the people. Further, he directed to sanitize all the ATMs kiosks in order to avoid a cash crunch in the area.

Pithoragarh (Uttarakhand):District Magistrate (DM) Dr Vijay Kumar Jogdande on Friday visited the State Bank of India headquarters near here after it has been decided to increase the working hours of all banking sectors.

The DM has directed all the 113 branches of the district to operate from 8 am to 1 pm to evade inconvenience to the people.

The District Magistrate has also directed to issue tokens to the customer in order to maintain social distancing while collecting cash adding to ensure an adequate amount of hand sanitizer to avoid the spread of novel coronavirus in the region.

Amid rumours of COVID-19, Dr Vijay has also directed to sanitize all the ATMs kiosks in order to avoid a cash crunch in the area.

"I have directed all the banks to maintain the decorum of social distancing and ordered all the bank managers to ensure hand sanitizers in their respective branches", said DM Dr Vijay.

Further, he informed that the bankers will be issued an emergency-pass which allows them to travel from 7 am to 3 pm.

The number of cases of the novel coronavirus across the globe crossed the 1 million mark as the global death toll topped 50,000. In India, the number of cases crossed the 3,000 marks at 3,082 and the death toll crosses 80.
