Dehradun:With parliamentary elections around the corner, the Election Commission has sped up the poll preparations. The Central Braille Press has also started the process of printing the ballot demo so that the blind people can also exercise their franchise in a confidential and transparent manner.

For the past 10 years, the Election Commission has been preparing a ballot demo for blind people to facilitate them in participating in the festival of democracy. In the ballot demo, names of all the candidates, party and their symbols are written to make it easy for the visually impaired to identify which party or candidate to vote for.
Asia's largest Central Braille Press
The Central Braille Press, located in Dehradun, is Asia's largest government braille press where ballot demo is printed for the visually impaired.
For the past 10 years, this press has been printing ballot demo for several states. In the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the press is preparing the ballot demo for five states-Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Uttarakhand.
In Uttarakhand, about 12 thousand polling booths have been set up for the five Lok Sabha seats and one ballet demo will be placed at each polling booths to facilitate the visually impaired people.
