Hardoi (UP): Dr Amit Sharma, a well-known cardiologist based in Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh shared some important facts about heart ailments and their prevention while speaking to ETV Bharat on the World Heart Day on Tuesday.
He stressed the need for spreading awareness about the heart and how to keep this vital organ safe and sound by not falling in the trap of misinformation.
He said, most diseases are caused by negative hormones, which should be controlled to prevent the problem of hypertension and diabetes.
He said that these days, the people have hardly any time for meditation and performing religious rituals, remembering in reverence the deities they worship, which produces positive hormones.
These positive hormones go a long way in keeping our heart hale and hearty.
ADDICTION COSTS DEARLY
Dr Sharma said that the purpose of celebrating September 29 as the World Heart Day is to spread awareness among the people how to keep their heart healthy and they should stay away from any kind of intoxication.
The intoxication is a major cause for heart disorders among today’s youths.
Our heart becomes weak due to the consumption of alcohol and other such substances, which further lead to developing other health complications.
By the time we are able to identify all these diseases, it may be too late and we may even lose our lives.
HOW TO PREVENT HEART DISEASES
There are multiple ways to prevent heart ailments. According to cardiologist Dr Amit Sharma, the best among them are daily exercise, walking for 40 minutes, cycling, swimming and sitting under the sunlight. All these help us to have a healthy heart.
Apart from these physical activities, Dr Sharma also advised that one should not consume fried foods and must reduce the intake of salt in foods, which help one maintain his blood pressure, cholesterol level and other cardiovascular disorders.
He was of the firm view that if someone takes these precautions, he will not need to visit any doctor with heart ailments.
Dr Sharma said that earlier the heart disease was a phenomenon only among the people who were 50 plus.
It is altogether a different scenario now. Heart disease has started afflicting the people of any age group because of changing lifestyles, which is so much haphazard today.
The changing lifestyle has, in fact, doubled the rate of heart diseases over the years. In today’s time, our lifestyle is becoming the biggest reason for the increase in heart ailments.
It is the awareness only through which can stay safe from this disease. In view of the increasing number of heart patients, we need to think differently.
