UP: Harassed by driver, woman jumps off moving auto

A woman jumped off a moving autorickshaw after being harassed by the driver in Lucknow's Gomtinagar. The driver was detained and a thorough investigation is underway into the matter.

Lucknow: A woman jumped off a moving autorickshaw after being harassed by the driver on Friday noon in Gomtinagar.

Due to the impact of the jump, the woman received injuries, but she managed to call her family and friends. Meanwhile, passersby caught the driver and thrashed him before handing him over to police.

According to the victim, he (driver) was harassing her and made obscene gestures. He was looking at her in the rear view mirror and was making derogatory remarks.

Police official said, "As per preliminary investigation, the driver was drunk and the woman got injured after she jumped off the moving rickshaw. The driver was detained and a thorough investigation is underway into the matter."
