Woman given triple talaq for not bringing new clothes for husband

A woman in Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh was given triple talaq for not getting new clothes for her husband when she went to meet him in jail. Police has registered the case and investigation is going on. Triple talaq was made a crime by parliament in a bill passed on 26 July 2019.

Amroha (Uttar Pradesh): In a unique case of triple talaq, in Gajraula police station area of ​​Amroha district, a woman here has filed a lawsuit against her husband for giving her triple talaq. The woman alleged that when she went to meet her husband in Moradabad Jail before Bakr Eid, her husband gave her triple talaq for not bringing new clothes for him.

On the complaint of the woman, the police have registered the case and started an investigation.

Murshida's husband, Zulfikar, who lives in Nauner village of Gajraula police station area of ​​Amroha district, has been in jail for the last four years. Zulfiqar is accused of murder and the trial continues in court. Murshida is raising her four children since then.

According to Murshida, a day before Bakrid, when she went to meet her husband, he started quarrelling with her for not bringing kurta-pyjamas and gave her triple talaq. Her husband often suspected her of having illicit relationships with other men. Zulfiqar sent her a note by writing talaq three times.

After the incident, many people from the village including the parents of Murshida went to meet Zulfikar and convince him about taking his decision back but he was not ready.
