Ayodhya: Two persons were shot dead in Dharamganj Bazar under Inayatnagar police limits in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya district on Monday afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as Jayprakash Singh, the head of the village, and Ram Padarth alias Nanh Yadav of the same locality.

According to sources, there was a land dispute between the trio, Somai Kori, Ramai Kori, and Swaminath Pal in Palia Pratap Sah village. Following which, the head of the village, Jayaprakash Singh went to the spot at around 10 am on Monday to settle the land dispute among the trio.

After returning from there, Singh was sitting at a shop located in Dharamganj Bazar. Suddenly, a notorious criminal of the locality, Nanh Yadav came to Singh and abused him over the land dispute matter.

The verbal duel turned violent when the enraged Yadav pulled the trigger on Singh and injured him critically. In retaliation, some people of the locality opened fire at Yadav and he died on the spot. Immediately locals rushed Singh to the Ayodhya DHH where his condition turned critical and he breathed his last, sources said.
