Teacher forced to work as mechanic amid corona-crisis, attacks Yogi govt

A school teacher from Ghaziabad who lost his job because of the coronavirus lockdown has blamed the state government for the financial distress caused to thousands of teachers across the state.

Lucknow: A man from Ghaziabad city of Uttar Pradesh slammed the state government for having to work as a mechanic after he lost his job of a school teacher owing to the corona-induced nationwide lockdown.

Devesh Kumar who worked as an educator was asked to resign from his job after the lockdown order came in force. Besides all his professional qualification, Devesh has an experience of teaching in schools for seven long years.

"I have attained my education from reputed school and colleges. I also have a B.Ed degree but the coronavirus lockdown forced me to work as a mechanic. There was no other option I could fall back upon after my school asked me to resign so I thought of starting a small business to make my ends meet. The state govt has done nothing for the teachers, the authorities didn't bother to think about the less privileged section of society. I have a family to take care of so I somehow manage to earn a little," Devesh stated.

He also added, "We were told that teachers might be required to give online classes but nothing actually happened."

On the other hand, the number of cases across Uttar Pradesh and Delhi have increased substantially. Many states have come up to declare lockdown so as to ward off the spread of deadly virus. According to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the number of active corona cases in Uttar Pradesh reached to 6463 on Saturday, however, 611 fatalities were reported so far.
